WHAT IS DOWN TO PLAY?

Down to Play is an inclusive indoor playground that aims to provide a fun and safe environment for children of all abilities. DTP features an expansive 3,500-square-foot playground packed with exciting play structures and a custom sensory room for kids who need a break. DTP is not just a place for kids with special needs but is designed to celebrate and embrace every child.

DTP has dedicated party rooms, perfect for birthdays or other celebrations. While the focus is providing a safe and inclusive space for children, DTP is committed to maintaining a comfortable environment for parents and guardians with free Wi-Fi and a coffee bar.

OUR STORY

Joel and Kelsey Doolen live in Dallas, Texas with their son, Jimmy, and their daughter, Kendall. Kendall was born in 2022 at only 26 weeks and with Down Syndrome – they quickly learned all of the developmental and physical challenges that can come alongside being a preemie and/or having a special need. They saw the need for an indoor playground in the neighborhood and after Kendall was born they were inspired to create something for kids of all abilities.

The Doolen family is passionate about impacting the special needs community through Down to Play by providing all families a fun, safe, and inclusive environment to let loose.

PLAY ZONES

Down to Play accommodates babies through elementary school. For safety and interest purposes our playground has three different zones to enjoy. Our playground features toddler and baby zones exclusively for those age groups for safety and ease of mind.

Sensory Room

As an indoor playground for kids of all abilities, a sensory room is a top priority for Down to Play. Sensory Rooms are vital for children with sensory issues. A sensory room provides children with the individualized sensory input they need to self-regulate to be better prepared for playing and interacting with others.

Joel Doolen, Owner

Joel is a dad, a banker and an impressive Golden Tee player. With over 20 year of experience in commercial lending, Joel brings a wealth of knowledge to the business side of Down to Play.

Kelsey Doolen, Owner & Advocate

Kelsey is a mom, an advocate and has worked in marketing for over a decade. As a Down syndrome advocate, she works to make our world more accepting and inclusive.

Troy Horning, COO

Troy is a loyal KU fan and avid golfer. Troy brings over 2 decades of experience in operations and most recently worked as COO for 7 Brew Drive-thru Coffee.
